Read on to hear a little more about what brought me here!

Hi there, I’m Lizzy! Partner to my love, mother to my son, friend of many, and a lifelong learner. I have always had a passion and call towards education, so after finishing a bachelors in elementary education I pursued a certificate in Waldorf education.
This program completely transformed my life and the way I interact with and experience the world. Not only did my teacher training leave me inspired and hopeful to educate, but it gave me a sense of belonging to a like minded community I had been yearning for.
While working towards my certificate in Waldorf Education, I had the opportunity to learn from several experienced teachers and assist in a variety of classrooms and age groups. One striking feature of these Waldorf classrooms is the openness the daily rhythm allows for child-led, unstructured play and learning, indoors and outside. All through the grades, a sense of deep respect and trust between the students and teachers is felt by creating the space to discover oneself through our surroundings and community. This feeling of real human connection is what I yearned for in those public school classrooms. And after being immersed in this type of educational experience, there is no turning back.

Then, I became a mother to my son in March of 2023. Now with him in tow I have not felt the call back to the classroom but rather to create a home and learning environment he will thrive in. As you can imagine a lot of my choices are heavily influenced by Waldorf training and Anthroposophic, esoteric studies, as well as what I’ve learned thus far about natural, from-scratch homemaking.
The desire to be with my child in a beautiful environment that honors both of our inherent need to be curious and learn while also feeling connected to the Earth and one another is the impulse behind Hemlock Valley Family Center. Parenthood in this day and age can feel so isolating, and I am yearning for that deep connection with like minded people that I know can exist. I am here sharing my ideas to hopefully find parents who might resonate, while facilitating experiences for children that allow for exploration and self discovery.
My greatest hope is to nurture the truth, beauty, and goodness that surrounds us in community and nature.
It is an expansive time to be experiencing life on Earth and I’m so glad to be sharing it with you.
Blessings on your way!
